Modification/Upgrading of Existing Systems

For a number of reasons, equipment installed to perform a process or emission control function may not be operating effectively. The process conditions may have changed from original parameters. The process design may have been faulty. Flow rates or contaminant concentrations may have changed. NUCON has the capability to analyze the situation, recommend changes and execute them to improve performance.

• Operating data can be analyzed to determine the cause of the problem. For NUCON installed units, this can be done from the office by telephone line communication with the control system.

• If a different adsorbent will provide improved capacity, NUCON can screen candidates in the laboratory or pilot-size equipment and select and supply the best material.

• In situations where frequent startups and shutdowns of equipment cause failure, process changes or equipment additions can provide steady operation.

• Corrosion may cause frequent failure of components. Changes in materials of construction or correction of the cause of corrosion will eliminate the problem.

• Trace quantities of contaminants may cause short life of adsorbents or premature failure of equipment. A guard bed of adsorbent can remove those contaminants and improve performance of the process.
