ACTIVATED CARBON FILTERS

In cases where nuclear contamination or toxic gases are to be controlled, normal activated carbon filters used in commercial HVAC systems are not adequate, NUCON specializes in active carbon filter systems that provide very high removal efficiency of various contaminants. In some cases, pollutant concentrations can be reduced to parts per trillion levels.

ACTIVATED CARBON FILTERS

The design, installation and operation of activated carbon filters used to remove radioactive vapors from air are specified in the AG-1 code. NUCON supplies both the radioiodine adsorbents and the filter systems themselves.

HIGH EFFICIENCY ACTIVATED CARBON FILTERS

For most filter systems, low pressure drop is important to minimize the cost of operating the fans. NUCON has developed custom designed filters to meet this requirement while maintaining high removal efficiency. A variety of activated carbons, both plain and impregnated can be applied. Applications include:

Removal of high boiling compounds to protect downstream processes from contamination.
Preventing acid gases and other compounds from poisoning catalysts.
Removing toxic materials such as mercury, TDI and dioxins from exhaust streams.
Treating incinerator and scrubber off gas streams to eliminate trace quantities of pollutants.
Protecting interior spaces from toxic gas releases.
