FAST, EFFICIENT, EXPERT CONTROL
ROOM ENVELOPE INLEAKAGE TESTING

Verifiable data on the leak tightness of the Control Room pressure boundary is critical information for all nuclear facilities. The NUCON Field Services Department offers the most cost effective Testing Programs available for making these important measurements. Our Test Programs meet the requirements of ASTM E 741. State-of-the-Art technology is used for maximum accuracy, efficiency and safety. All NUCON on-site work is performed under our Quality Assurance Program which meets 10CFR50, Appendix B.

NUCON Field Services Department personnel are fully qualified for access to nuclear facilities. Technical qualifications to ANSI N45-2-6 and ANS 3.1, Fitness For Duty and Security are completely documented. NUCON Field Services personnel work at many nuclear facilities on a regular basis and therefore are familiar with the specific requirements of nuclear plant procedures, security, QA, restricted access, ALARA and all other unique nuclear related demands. They are trained in nuclear technology and can usually be granted unescorted access with only site-specific training. This minimizes the time, and helps reduce costs, required to complete test programs. Experience in preparation of site-specific test procedures, based on standard NUCON Procedures, helps make NUCON testing cost effective with minimum owner input required.

NUCON uses the latest technology and rugged, qualified instrumentation for testing. Both SF6 and halides are used as tracers. The integrated leak rate testing is usually performed with SF6 and halides are used for component leak location. This reduces tracer gas build-up that can delay any necessary follow-up work or retesting.

All three ASTM E-741 Test Methods are offered: Concentration Decay, Constant Injection and Constant Concentration with the most appropriate chosen for each application. The latest computer integrated Gas Chromatograph is used for the SF6 tests. NUCON MODEL F-1000 Halide Detectors are used for halide tracer testing.
